Welcome back to Listen Up! God Speaks—a podcast to help you live life victoriously. I’m your host, Charlotte, and today we’re entering Episode 7 of our current series, Victory Through the Battle: Spiritual Warfare Lessons from the Bible.
Today’s episode carries deep prophetic meaning and personal application. We’re going to talk about the blood covering—and what it means to be spiritually protected when warfare is raging all around.
So let’s walk through one of the most powerful moments of deliverance in Scripture—the Passover.
Let’s set the stage...
After nine devastating plagues, Pharaoh is still refusing to let God’s people go. And now, God prepares to bring the final judgment against Egypt: the death of the firstborn.
But before this judgment comes, God gives His people a very specific set of instructions.
They are to take a spotless lamb, slaughter it, and apply the blood to the doorposts of their homes.
“The blood shall be a sign for you… and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you.” —Exodus 12:13 (ESV)
Let that sink in...
The blood didn’t stop the judgment from coming to Egypt.
But it protected those who were under it.
Here’s the first spiritual warfare insight we need to understand:
There are times when God doesn’t stop the storm—He shields you in it.
Everyone in Egypt experienced it that night.
But only those under the blood covering were spared.
This is spiritual warfare on a covenant level.
Let’s pause for a moment and talk about the blood...
The Hebrew word for blood is dam (דָּם) [dom], which represents life, covenant, and sacrifice.
This was not just a ritual—this was an act of obedience and a prophetic picture of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.
Hebrews 9:22 tells us, “Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.”
And Revelation 12:11 declares:
“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony…”
The blood is not just about salvation.
It is a weapon in spiritual warfare.
Let’s bring this into real life...
Have you ever had a moment where everything around you seemed to be falling apart—but somehow, you were held?
Others were panicking, but you had peace
Others were attacked, but you were hidden
Others were crushed, but you stood
That’s not luck. That’s not coincidence.
That’s the blood covering of Jesus over your life.
Let me give you an example...
A woman I knew once shared how her entire office went through massive layoffs. She was one of the least senior employees—but somehow, she was kept.
Her supervisor later said, “Something told me not to touch your file.”
That’s divine covering.
You may not always see it—but the blood speaks protection, identity, and exemption.
Let’s talk about what this means practically in your spiritual battle...
1. Obedience Activates Protection
The Israelites had to apply the blood exactly as instructed.
If they’d ignored the command or said, “God knows my heart,” they would have been exposed.
Obedience brings alignment—and alignment releases protection.
In seasons of warfare, you must walk closely with God.
Even small instructions matter. Sometimes your protection is hidden in your obedience.
2. The Blood Is Your Legal Authority
The enemy is a legalist. He knows spiritual boundaries.
When you apply the blood—through prayer, declaration, and covenant living—you are marking yourself as off-limits.
The blood silences accusations.
The blood cancels access.
The blood says, “This one belongs to the King.”
3. Cover Not Just Yourself—Cover Others
In Exodus 12:3, God told each household to cover everyone in the house.
You can plead the blood over:
Your children
Your spouse
Your mind
Your home
Your health
Your finances
Your workplace
Spiritual warfare isn’t just resisting the enemy—it’s proactively applying protection.
Let’s declare this together:
“I am covered by the blood of Jesus. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. I am marked, protected, and set apart. The enemy cannot cross the bloodline. I plead the blood over my life, my family, my future, and my purpose. In Jesus’ name, I walk in divine protection and peace.”
Let’s pray and agree together, and I’ll get pauses to allow you to repeat it if needed...
Father, thank You for the blood of Jesus.
Thank You that it still speaks, still covers, and still breaks every curse.
I apply the blood over my life right now.
Let every assignment of the enemy be canceled.
Let every door of access be sealed.
Let my home be a place of peace, protection, and presence.
Thank You that I don’t have to live in fear—because the blood covers me.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
