Welcome back to Listen Up! God Speaks—a podcast to help you live life victoriously. I’m your host, Charlotte, and we’re in Week 3 of our powerful series titled, Victory Through the Battle: Spiritual Warfare Lessons from the Bible.

Each week, we’re diving into real moments of spiritual warfare in the Bible—not just the dramatic battles, but the quiet struggles of obedience, identity, and spiritual resistance. These episodes are designed to help you grow stronger, fight wiser, and stay deeply anchored in Christ.

Let’s dive into today’s episode, called “Standing Strong in a Corrupt Culture.”

Today we’re going to talk about a man who stood alone in a time when the whole world was drowning in darkness.

That man was Noah.

Now you might be familiar with the story of Noah’s ark—but if we stop at the animals and the rainbow, we miss one of the most powerful lessons in all of spiritual warfare:

Noah wasn’t just building an ark.
He was building a spiritual resistance in the midst of a perverse generation.

Let me read a few verses from Genesis 6, starting in verse 5:

“The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually…
But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord…

Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God.”
—Genesis 6:5, 8–9

Let’s pause right there...

Noah wasn’t a warrior in the way we might think.
He wasn’t leading armies. He wasn’t performing miracles.
But Noah’s obedience was warfare—because he dared to walk in righteousness when the entire culture walked in wickedness.

So what does this teach us about spiritual warfare?

Sometimes, spiritual warfare looks like daily obedience in a defiled world.
It’s spiritual resistance—when you choose purity, integrity, and holiness while everything around you celebrates sin.

Noah’s life was a prophetic rebuke to his generation.
By simply walking with God, he exposed the corruption of those around him.

And this is where many of us feel the heat of spiritual battle…

Have you ever felt alone in your convictions?

  • Maybe you’re trying to live righteously, but others mock your faith.

  • Maybe your family doesn’t understand why you won’t compromise.

  • Maybe you’re tempted to blend in—to stop swimming upstream and just go with the flow.

That pressure? That tension?
That’s warfare.

And that’s what Noah felt—every single day.

Let’s explore a powerful insight from the Hebrew language...

The phrase “Noah walked with God” uses the Hebrew verb halak (הָלַךְ), meaning to walk continually, step by step, in alignment or agreement.

It’s the same word used of Enoch, who “walked with God and was not, for God took him.”

Walking with God wasn’t just about belief—it was about consistent movement in God’s direction, regardless of what others were doing.

So here's the warfare insight:
Walking with God is an act of spiritual rebellion against the world’s system.

Let me give you a real-life example...

Imagine a young woman working in a corporate environment where gossip, inappropriate behavior, and compromise are the norm.

She chooses not to participate.
She walks in love, but she doesn’t laugh at the dirty jokes.
She doesn’t twist the truth to get ahead.

Soon, she becomes a target.
She’s mocked, excluded, misunderstood.

Why? Because her righteousness convicts.

She didn’t preach. She didn’t judge.
She simply walked with God.

That’s what Noah did.
And it’s what you’re called to do, too.

Let’s take a deeper look at three areas of Noah’s spiritual warfare strategy...

1. Obedience in the Unknown

God told Noah to build an ark—something that had never existed—for a flood that had never happened, and had never rained from the sky up until the time of the flood.

From the research and studying I’ve done, the earth was surrounded by a canopy-type atmosphere, sort of like a Hyperbaric oxygen chamber that you may have heard about in the natural health field or that sports players use for helping healing and recovery.

The topic regarding this type of atmosphere that surrounded the earth that God put in place from the beginning of creation would need a separate podcast to dive into the amazing details of it. Just understand for now that it had never rained, so they had no awareness of what a flood would be like.

Sometimes spiritual warfare looks like obeying when you don’t have the full picture or understanding.
Faith builds when fear would freeze.

Are you in a season where God is asking you to obey without full understanding?
Stay the course. Obedience is warfare.

2. Endurance in the Mockery

Hebrews 11:7 tells us:

“By faith Noah… in reverent fear constructed an ark… and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.”

He was called a “preacher of righteousness,” which implies he warned others—yet no one listened.

Spiritual warfare often requires perseverance when no one affirms your stand.
Can you keep going when you feel unseen?
Can you keep building when people roll their eyes?

Noah did. And so can you.

3. Covering His Family

Noah didn’t just obey for himself.
He obeyed for the salvation of his household.

There’s spiritual warfare in the home, and your obedience matters more than you know.

When you choose to walk uprightly, speak life, and lead your household in prayer—you’re building an ark of protection for your family.

Let’s make this practical with a few modern-day warfare declarations...

When you feel surrounded by compromise:

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)

When you feel alone in your convictions:

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)

When you’re unsure but called to obey:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

Let’s declare this together...

“Even if I must stand alone, I will walk with God. I reject compromise. I walk in righteousness. I am building an ark of obedience. I will endure, I will obey, and I will overcome. My life will reflect God’s favor in a corrupt generation.”

Let’s pray...

Father, thank You for the example of Noah. Thank You that righteousness still matters, and obedience still carries weight.

Give me strength to stand when others bow, to walk when others wander, and to obey when it’s uncomfortable.
Help me to walk closely with You, even if it means walking alone.
Strengthen me for the daily battle of holiness in a culture of compromise.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
